Human Cities

Challenging the City Scale

Human Cities / Challenging the City Scale is a project co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of The European Union.

The POLIMI DESIS Lab operates within a network of 11 partners just as many European “human cities”: Milan, Italy (Department of Design, Politecnico di Milano), St. Etienne, France (Cité du Design), Brussels, Belgium (Pro Materia), Graz, Austria (FH JOANNEUM University of Applied Sciences), Belgrade, Serbia (Association Belgrade Design Week), Bilbao, Spain (BEAZ & Bilbao Ekintza), Cieszyn, Poland (Zamek Cieszyn), London (United Kingdom), Helsinki, Finland (Aalto University, Faculty of Architecture), Ljubljana, Slovenia (Urban Planning Institute of the Republic of Slovenia), Tallinn, Estonia (Estonian Association of Designers).

It explored how the inhabitants reclaim the constantly evolving contemporary city (especially through experiments in the urban space) and ways of (re)inventing city life, as sources of wellbeing and quality of life.

Duration: 2014 – 2018
